Google Art and Chicago's douchiest bars

Today I'm trying something different with my clipboard, and I'll post a screenshot of the draft text file that I put clippings on throughout the day.

Sometimes I wish I could comment on artworks on art.sy. Take Thomas Ruff's "jpeg bd01" priced at $138,000. When I first saw this, I thought that was the price for the building, not the artwork.

As a member of art.sy, can I send invites to my friends? Everyone is so jealous that I got in!

With the advent of Google Artwork and now art.sy, i've been meaning to compile a master list of ALL the artists i like--both famous and people i know. Even though about 90% of my favorite artists won't be on google artwork or art.sy.

Actually, i wonder how that will play out. How many will be "famous" and how many aren't. It would be interesting to see the percentage of artists I like are famous or not.

The Starn Twins' "Christ Stretched" @mcachicago is a great artwork to see during Holy Week http://flic.kr/p/bJAZzT

REDEEMING QUALITIES FOR FIVE BARS OF CHICAGO'S "DOUCIEST BARS"

What I think about the "25 douchiest bars in Chicago"

I'm not a fan of this article, "25 douchiest bars in Chicago." Aren't all bars overpriced? I dunno, this article is like the sort of, "let's elevate ourselves above the places people like, so we make ourselves cooler than them." And my own critique here of the article ironically is doing the same thing. But I'd rather have people say what they like instead of tearing down places others enjoy.

That being said, I'm not a bar person. I frankly don't care for bars all that much as they are too loud to have a discussion. But here are some redeeming qualities of the bars that were on the list.

-- Nick's (it's nice around 8pm) And shuffleboard can be nice for normal people, not just drunks.

-- Fado: This used to be the happy hour hangout for my workplace. Is it "fake irish"? yeah, maybe. But the place was big enough after happy hours for us to get seats. Thus, i like it.

-- Murphy's: My family never goes to the bars before or after the games, so it was a little different tradition when I went to Murphy's with a friend. I dunno. It's just a bunch of cubs fans. Are you going to have idiots in that crowd? Of course. But c'mon, it's a bar across the street from a ballpark. Go in with those expectations.

-- The Cubby Bear: I saw a good band play there once. And they let me use their washrooms before heading into Wrigly.

-- John Barleycorn: The only time I went there was on a Sunday night before the Superbowl where there are no NFL games being played. It was really empty. I liked it.
